SUPERDIRT VOLTAGE
CV 4 Tidal Cycles
I built SUPERDIRT VOLTAGE (formative-cybering/superdirt-voltage) to fuse the precision of live coding with the wild pulse of modular synthesizers. It’s a set of SuperDirt synths and TidalCycles helpers that send control voltages (CV) to analog hardware, skipping MIDI’s sterile grid for raw, electric signals.
Modular synths are alive, each setup a unique beast. Code, on the other hand, is exact, unchanging, dead. I wanted these worlds to collide. Less about control, more about dialogue.
Code + Chaos
This project rejects MIDI’s one-size-fits-all approach. CV embraces the quirks of hardware, and allows off-grid, arbirary EDO melodies. Code shapes voltages with precision, but the synths respond with their own chaotic voices, drifts, unexpected textures. This tension is where the magic happens: patterns stay tight, but the sound breathes.
